Now taking reservations for December-January Coues Hunts

Along with Gould's Turkey hunts for April and May, we are also starting the process of leasing the ranch, on a group or individual basis, for Coues-deer hunts for the upcoming December-January Coues deer hunting season. If this might interest you, continue reading.....

Our ranch is pristine, scenic and remote, while our deer population (as well as javelina, turkey, bobcat, coyote, fox, cougar) is healthy and non-stressed. By eliminating the middle-man outfitter I can offer this hunt at a very good discount. Typical outfitter coues hunts will run you at least $4,000 plus permit/license/tag costs not included, which can run an additonal $300-500.

Our price, which would be for the December-January hunting season, is $2,900 unguided, plus an additional $125 for gun permit/license/tag costs, as well as all paperwork. We will be there to get you through all Mexican red tape and beauracracy.

The price includes roundtrip transportation from Tucson or Douglas, Arizona, up to 5 days of hunting, plus two days of travel, for a total of 7 days, three meals/day, snacks, beverages, domestic beer, and lodging, which has warm water, electricity (generator), fireplace, wood stove and gas stove.

You also get full access to all 25,000 acres with an English speaking driver/guide. You are free to bring your own vehicle and quad if you like (you pay and are responsible for permits). Javelina can also be harvested for $500, with a maximum of two per hunter. Non-hunter companions are also welcome for a price of $800 for the entire week, including meals, or $500 without meals.

A non refundable 50% deposit secures the reservation, on a first come, first serve basis. The remaining balance is due a month prior to your arrival. We plan on opening up the ranch for a total of 6-8 tags for the entire season.

This hunt is ideal for a group wishing to lease the ranch with exclusive use for December-January or for individual hunters seeking a great hunting ranch for unguided hunting.

If interested or for more information, contact me or email me at: montasierra@yahoo.com I will send you a link to our tourism branch's website so you can see pictures and videos of the land.

Reservations won't last long. References and trophy photos available upon request.

Large Mouth Bass Fishing on Angostura Lake

Besides having 30,000 acres for ecotourism, adventure and hunting, our ranch is bordered, on its eastern zone, by majestic Angostura Lake. Due to its isolation and remoteness, its lack of facilities or infrastructure, Angostura Lake remains a hidden gem of spectacular nature beauty and amazing fishing.

Nowhere in the southwestern United States or northern Mexico does there exist a lake so isolated and unspoiled, yet so pristine and beautiful, as exists in the Rancho Los Baños vicinity. A stone’s throw away from the ranch’s border lies Lake Angostura, a man-made dammed body of water twenty miles long and three miles wide surrounded by mountains, mesas and canyons, helping to make its scenery some of the most spectacular of any lake in North America.

Combined with excellent year round weather, inspiring scenery, its strategic location in the middle of an important migratory bird corridor, its near total isolation and seclusion, and its abundant and high quality bass fishing, Lake Angostura is an outdoorsmen and nature lover’s paradise.

The lake has provided above average, very high quality bass fishing to fishermen for decades. Lake Angostura has become a hidden gem in Sonora, as well as within some circles of southeast Arizona, for the high level, abundance and quality of its fish. Yet its abundant supply of bass is not only due to its great weather and location, but because of its complete isolation and lack of stress on its fish population. Indeed, rarely will you see even one boat on the lake. In fact, when on the lake, you will most likely be the only person on the water, not just that day, but probably that month. This is not an exagerration, either.

The inaccessibility of the lake to the general public is perhaps the best reason why Lake Angostura remains a virgin body of water, a true hidden gem in the middle of the border of the Sonoran and Chihuahan deserts. While the general public struggles with very rough roads and the distance to reach the lake, concluding that great fishing and scenery are not worth the hassle, you will not have to deal with any of those issues. Rancho Los Baños is a mere mile or two away from the lake, with direct access to the water. From your cabin, tent or lodge, you are minutes away from one of the best kept secrets in the region, ready to enjoy this majestic body of water, hassle free.

Our fishermen guests come from all over the world, including Europe, Canada, Latin America and the United States. As a guest, you are welcome to bring your own boats, kayaks, canoes, jet skis, etc... Here, they will be safe, staying near your accommodation, and mere minutes away from a 20 mile long lake with incredible views, fishing and outdoor activities. Nowhere else near Arizona, or the entire Southwest for that matter, can you enjoy your own personal lake, without crowds, boats, noise or pollution.

Email us for more information, and be sure to visit our ecotourism website which can be found in our links section.

We will carefully design a personalized package that suits your preferences. We will quote you a price based on your package. With lodging, food, transportation and guides taken care of, all you have to do is enjoy life.

Great Year for Coues Hunting at the Rancho

April and May Gould's Turkey Hunt

We are a ranching family in the Mexican state of Sonora. We have a 30,000 acre privately owned working cattle ranch and ecotourism destination in Northeastern Sonora state, less than 60 miles from the Arizona border at Douglas. The ranch has an elevation that ranges from 3,200 ft in the canyons to 7,400 in the mountains. We are bordered by the Bavispe River and Lake Angostura, 20 miles long, isolated, with great bass fishing (which we can set up and organize on your visit).

The ranch also has a very healthy population of Gould's Turkey, most of which inhabit riparian river beds at mid-elevation levels.

Because of our appreciation for turkey hunters, we are opening up the ranch and offering hunting of this magnificent trophy, the grand slam of Turkey hunting. We plan on harvesting a maximum of 6-8 birds, maybe more if necessary. The hunting season is April through May. This is the first time in eight years that we are opening up the ranch to Gould's turkey hunts, meaning that our turkey population is unstressed, unhunted and plentiful. You will find very good sized birds.

Our price per hunter is $1,250 for one turkey, unguided. Guided hunts are $1,550. Both prices include 5 days at the ranch, (two travel days, three hunting days) which is some of the most scenic and pristine land anywhere, along with your personal host, driver and cook. All food (three meals/day, beverages and snacks) and lodging is included (at a high quality lodge), as is roundtrip transportation from Tucson or Douglas, Arizona.

There is an additional $200 charge for gun permits, licenses, and tags as well. We will be with you every step of the way when you cross into Mexico. We will file all paperwork, talk to Mexican authorities, register weapons and documents and deal with all red tape before we head to the ranch.

Our price is well below that charged by outfitters. We eliminate the middle man and conduct professional hunts, rancher and hunter, no middle man, meaning better prices for you.

Non-hunter companions are welcome to join you for $250 for the five day hunt. Price will include all meals, lodging and transportation.

Anyone interested please contact us via email and I will be happy to send you a link to the ranch's ecotourism website (the most comprehensive of its kind and the best way for you to see our ranch) where you can see the beauty and unspoiled surroundings you will enjoy, as well as hundreds of photos and more than a dozen videos of the ranch and its lodges. You can also access this website by visiting our list of links on this site. I will also be very happy to answer any questions you may have.

I also encourage you to scroll all the way down this blog because we offer fishing, coues deer hunts and we have a list of prices as well as photos of some of this past season's trophy hunts.

Our ecotourism division, along with our working cattle ranch, is highly successful and we run a very professional and efficient operation. We know what we are doing and we know how to treat guests.

We will close the hunting window once all available tags are reserved. (A non-refundable deposit of $600 guarantees the reservation of a hunt/tag). If needed, references for previous hunters can be provided (Coues only since it has been 8 years since the last Gould's hunt.).

If interested or for more information, contact me by email at: montasierra@yahoo.com. This is a great opportunity for avid turkey hunters in one of the most beautiful ranches in all of Mexico.

Location: NE Sonora, Mex. 60 miles/southeastern Arizona
